Pink and Lacy

I had some friends over to make cards today.  I did three projects.  Here is the first one.  I used a cute retired set from Stampin' Up called Sweet Summer.  I think pink and white lace are perfect together so decided to use both on my card.  I didn't have any designer paper that I liked with the flower stamp I used so I made my own using a scroll background stamp from Hero Arts.  It needed some pink to make it match the flowers so I added dots with a single dot stamp from Printworks.  I can't believe how often I use that little stamp but I seem to be grabbing in all the time!

Here's a close up of the flowers.  I used Copics to color them.  I didn't use traditional blending groups, but the colors blended very well and made coloring easy.   I used Spellbinders dies to make the pink frame around the flowers. 

I kept the pink and lace theme going to the inside of the card.

I'm still having fun with my Lawn Fawn Critters on the Farm stamps.  Just when I go to put them away, I get another idea.  I had already colored the little lamb and I thought how cute he'd be jumping over the fence...then I thought about vines and flowers on the fence and I had to make a card to see what it would look like!  I made a small version of an easel card. 

When I was looking for a link to the stamps, I found out that they are on sale at Markerpop.com, so if you NEED them...you could get on sale.  The dies are on sale too, but they are out of stock right now :(

To make the lamb look more like he is jumping, I put a double piece of foam tape under his face and front legs, a single piece under his middle and glue dots under his tail and rear legs.  I took a side view picture...not sure if you will be able to see it clearly enough but it gives the effect that I was looking for!

Here's a pic of the card open.  I made the message on my computer.  I found a cute font called "KG Somebody that I Used to Know".  After I printed it out on card stock, I used a Spellbinder labels die to cut it out.

Here's a picture of the inside of the card.  I used my computer to make the message because I didn't have a stamp that said what I wanted to say…and then I decorated the inside with washi tape.  I'm loving using Washi tape to make the inside of my cards more interesting.  If you are like me, you get so busy making the front of the card cute that you forget the inside until you have everything cleaned up.  Washi tape is so quick and easy and adds just a splash of color to tie it all together!

Groovy

I cased this card made by Taylor VanBruggen of Taylored Expressions.  I just loved the paper and the bright colors!  My husband had a VW bug when we were dating so they have a special place in my heart!  I usually make 4-6 of the same card when I get busy stamping.   I only have one of these cards left and I'm sending it tomorrow, so I figured I better take a pic and post it before putting it in the mail.  Kind of takes you back in time…doesn't it?

Vellum Hearts

I haven't used my heat gun and embossing powder in ages, so it was really fun to get them out and play today!  I stamped onto vellum and then colored the back side with Tombo markers.  The white lines weren't crisp enough when I put the vellum over blue paper so I cut  some plain white hearts to glue under the images and got the effect I was looking for!

Kind & Cozy

I had to make a challenge card for a small local group that I'm a member of.  They post 2 challenges at a time and you get to pick which one you want to do.  This time it was "make a card using sequins or Flower Soft"  and a Fusion sketch, where you had to use the card sketch, the theme or the color combo!  I decided to combine the 2 challenges into one card and this is what I came up with…

It's a variation on the sketch, but I think it works!  I just got the Kind & Cozy set from Stampin' Up so I had to use that and I saw a great video tutorial on this fun fold by France Martin.  You can see it here if you want to try making one!  You should watch the video anyway because she has such a cute accent and way of saying things!  It makes me smile every time I watch it :)  The card is a tri-fold and doesn't stand up well on it's own so I added an easel to the back of it using Sizzix Bigz Easel Die by Tim Holtz. Last Christmas Post this year

I do not know what happened this year!  It's only 6 PM on Christmas Eve and everything is done.  This is not me.  My Christmas Eve's are usually spent in a panic finishing things up and wrapping for tomorrow but I'm sitting here with nothing to do.  It is just weird!!   So I decided to post the last minute things that I finished up on Friday.  I always leave those final gift card holders, tags and candy treats till the end!!  I made Snowflake Mix and thanks to my friend Judy had two different ways of packaging it.   

The first is in a cellophane bag with a topper...

The second way is in clear, sturdy quart sized plastic containers.  The little owl is from a Whippersnapper set by Anna Wight.  I used paper piecing to give him a Christmas striped scarf!  

I always need one more gift so I have some gift card/ check holders ready.  This year I made some Z shaped cards.  I like this design because there is room for a sentiment and a little pocket that holds the gift card or check securely.  For this one I used a sentiment stamp and surrounded it with the holly and berries from the Stampin' Up set Watercolor Winter.  The snowflakes were made with a die from Impression Obsession.  It's my favorite, the snowflakes are beautiful and intricate but small enough to fit perfectly on a card!

This is what the card looks like opened.  I put a ribbon and bow on the pocket to make it look like a little gift package!

For the second card I used a funny stamp from Eat Cake Graphics.  I just love the look on the little boy's face! It makes me laugh every time I look at it!

Snowflake Easel Card

Another easel card, this time with a wintery theme!  Whoever thought this fold up is a genius! The 3-D look is so much fun and there are so many stamps and dies that can be used.  They are my new favorite (I know, I'm fickle...everything is my favorite!).  Here is one that I used for Christmas cards this year!  The snowflake is a die from The Cat's Pajamas.  You can see it here.  I cut 4 of them out of typing paper, folded them in half and glued them together.  Then I added a string using fishing line and a crimp bead.  It's very easy because the snowflake is symmetrical and lines up perfectly when you glue it together.

Here is a close-up of the snowflake, it is so pretty!

My card needed a little sparkle so I made an embellishment using white and blue card stock, vellum and Stampin' Up glitter paper punched out using a bunch of different punches.  Here's a close-up.  

It's such a busy time of year and I was in such a hurry to get my cards out that I cleaned up without writing down any of the supplies I used.  I remember that I used a My Favorite Things clear stamp to do the dotted background, the Cat's Pajamas snowflake and a Spellbinder Labels die to make the easel cut out.  If you need specifics on the punches I used or have any other questions, please contact me.

Snowflake Girl

With Christmas just around the corner, I thought I'd better get started on my cards.  Here is one that I made with the Let It Snow stamp from Crafter's Companion USA!  When I was little I loved snowstorms and trying to catch snowflakes and this little girl brings me right back there!  The new Impression Obsession snowflake die was perfect for this card!

She has the sweetest little face, so cute!  Here is a pic of the inside of the card...

It feels so good to have some Christmas cards ready to send!  Getting started is always the hardest part!

Itty Bitty Sand Bucket

A friend challenged us with an interesting card sketch this week.  We could either do the square or the round version.  It was a fun one!

I haven't  finished the inside yet, but I used the opposite halves of the circles I used for the front to add some color to the inside.  Pretty cute!

Here's a close up of the cute little sand pail!  It's such a cute little stamp, it's one of the Itty Bittys from Pink Ink Stamps.  They work great for inchies if you are into making those!  I also really like the banner stamp from Taylored Expressions. I used Copic markers to add the shadows so it looks more 3-D!

Aloha Flip Fold Card!!

After a rainy week, I'm in the mood for summer so I made this cute little card!  I'm addicted to the Pure Innocence stamps from My Favorite Things.  They bring me back to my childhood and all the silly, fun things we used to do back then!!

How can you help but love her!!  This card has a flip fold that's fun to make.  I love any kind of fun fold...don't you?  Here's a link to the tutorial on how to do it!  I'm not sure if this picture shows it well enough for you to get the idea, but here it is...
