Twist Fold Card

This is a new card shape for me.  It is called a Twist Fold Card.  You start out with a piece of card stock cut to 4 1/4 x 11.  Thinner card stock works better for the base card.  Score the card diagonally from corner to corner and fold on the score line.  Then fold the piece in half and decorate.  If you google "twist fold card" there are lots of samples and tutorials!  I used a stamp and die set from Taylored Expressions called Paw-some!

Here is what the inside of the card looks like.  I sent this card to my niece and I knew it was going to arrive a little late so I changed the "is" to "was"!

Watch Out Orlando Graduation Card

I am very, very grateful to the bloggers that I follow lately!  I've been in one of those creative slumps and I can't seem to come up with anything that I like on my own.  Thank goodness this doesn't happen to everybody at the same time. I've been lucky enough to find great cards that I could use as a springboards and this is an example of another one!  I needed a graduation card for a friend who is finishing up nail tech school and since I know she will take Orlando by storm, Wanda Guess' card was just perfect for the event!  You can see Wanda's inspiration card here. Since I had the Taylored Expressions Instant Photo Frame Die I was set to go. It is a favorite because you can put so many things into the opening to make snapshots that are the perfect size for a card front!
I used the "Cracked" font on my computer to make all of the wording for this card.  To center the words on the photo frame, I printed them out on white card stock.  Then I cut the frame out of vellum.  I placed the vellum frame over the words to center them and marked the 4 corners so I could place the die just where I needed it to be and taped it in place.  Ran it though the Big Shot and then used it in my card :)

I had a few of the paper dolls left when I cut the strip to size so I used them to decorate the inside of the card...

Groovy

I cased this card made by Taylor VanBruggen of Taylored Expressions.  I just loved the paper and the bright colors!  My husband had a VW bug when we were dating so they have a special place in my heart!  I usually make 4-6 of the same card when I get busy stamping.   I only have one of these cards left and I'm sending it tomorrow, so I figured I better take a pic and post it before putting it in the mail.  Kind of takes you back in time…doesn't it?

Thanks for visiting, have a good week :)

Floating Chicken

I wanted to try out embedded embossing technique that my friend, Kim found.  Though I liked the card samples I saw on line, they looked kind of flat so I decided to use this technique as a background and to build on top of it.  I've been feeling bad for people I know who live up in New England and are really tired of snow.  I thought a funny summer card with a message that it will be over soon might make them laugh so I used this floating chicken stamp from Whippersnapper and made a beach scene!  I glued paper together to make the water, sand, sky and sun background and them put it through my Big Kick using a Stampin Up embossing folder and then again using a swirly embossing folder.   Then I added the sand castle, pail and crab to it.  I made a spring with some wire and attached it behind the chicken so when you move the card she bobbles like she is really floating on water!!

Here's another shot showing how much texture the embossing folders gave to the background.  I'm thrilled with the result!

If you have some time or want to try something new…I think you would like this!

Witch's Wardrobe Box Card

I've had the Taylored Expressions set, Hangin Out - Wicked Wardrobe for a while and when I saw the directions for how to make a box card, I knew what I wanted to do...

Here's a view of the card opened so you can see what's inside the wardrobe!!

I was really happy with how it came out.  I put the message on the back of the wardrobe and it said...

Itty Bitty Sand Bucket

A friend challenged us with an interesting card sketch this week.  We could either do the square or the round version.  It was a fun one!

I haven't  finished the inside yet, but I used the opposite halves of the circles I used for the front to add some color to the inside.  Pretty cute!

Here's a close up of the cute little sand pail!  It's such a cute little stamp, it's one of the Itty Bittys from Pink Ink Stamps.  They work great for inchies if you are into making those!  I also really like the banner stamp from Taylored Expressions. I used Copic markers to add the shadows so it looks more 3-D!

Here's the card sketch I used.
