repositionable Dotto to attach the flap so I could cut the holes where I wanted them. The holes were cut with MFT Circle STAX. I drew lines for the pavement and store floor and then removed the flap. I colored the background with Pan Pastels and Sofft Tools applicators. Pan Pastels are smooth and buttery and make applying color to backgrounds quick and easy.
I used Copic W1 to make the edge of the sidewalk a darker color because I only had one shade of gray in Pan Pastels, neutral gray tint. For the sky, I used Pthalo Blue Tint and for the store floor Yellow Ochre. I like having something of interest peeking out on the second layer of my tunnel cards and for this one I used tiny trees made with the Trees in the Forest dies from MFT. I adore the street lamp from the Mon Cheri set! I used my Misti so that I could get the lamps nice and black, then I colored the glow in each!!
My idea was to have the little shopper go into the city to her favorite store. I colored a separate piece of card stock with the yellow ochre and then stamped the shelves for the store onto it so when I cut them out with the die I wouldn't have a stark white edge around them.
All of the little extras in the stamp set were perfect merchandise to put in my store! I did the wording on my computer and added a heart banner from Penny Black called Heart String. It was fun putting the store together and deciding what to put "on sale"!
I hope you like my card today. It looks more difficult than it really was. If you haven't tried coloring backgrounds with Pan Pastels before, you should get a couple and try them. I use the Pthalo Blue Tint most because it is perfect for coloring skies. The finish you get is matte and chalky looking. Nice!
Thanks for taking the time to stop by. Keep stamping!!

Wow Janet, this is fabulous! The suspense of the front opening to show the sidewalk and then you open it out and you're in shopping heaven :). An absolutely fantastic card design. I love all the little items on sale and the lady with her chic scarf and handbag. Love, love ,love it! Debra x
