MFT Camp Create - Delightful Die Cutting
I was very grateful to MFT because their Camp Create helped me to come up with an idea for a sympathy card that I needed to make. It was an especially difficult one because it was for the loss of a child and I had no clue what to make. After watching Stephanie's video on partial die cutting, I had an idea and if it worked, I knew what I was going to do.
I used MFT's Sweet Forest Friends dies for the partial die cutting and then stamped the tree and the animals. I used a black Sharpie to color them in so they would look like silhouettes against the sky. I wasn't sure about the white edge but it looked like a moon glow around the objects so it worked really well. Here is my card...
This is such a happy little stamp set, but in silhouette the animals worked very well to convey the tone that I was looking for.
To make the sky, I used a piece of watercolor paper and reinkers. The stars are made with white acrylic paint. I used a small stylus and a toothpick to dot them on and then I painted the glow lines with a tiny round paintbrush.
I used a Hero Arts stamp and die set for the sentiment on the front of my card. I die cut "prayers" out of black adhesive backed fun foam making sure that the adhesive would be on the front side of the word. I removed the protective paper and then pressed some silver Deco Foil onto the adhesive. When I lifted the foil sheet off, the foil had transferred and the word had a beautiful luster. The fun foam added a textural quality to the foil. Here's a close-up so you can see for yourself.
If you haven't watched any of the Camp Create videos, I think you would like them. You can find them on the MFT Blog. Just scroll down a bit and you will find them :)
Thanks for visiting!

MFT Camp Create - Glitzy Glitter
I had some time to play along with MFT Camp Create today. It's a summer camp for stampers and has 5 days of challenges! It started on Monday so I am late, but it looked like so much fun that I'm going to try to complete the challenges before the deadline on June 23rd.
The first challenge is Glitzy Glitter. I just got the Beautiful Girl stamp set from MFT and thought that would be a great image to add glitter to, so I used the sweet little girl to make some cards. Here is the first card, I used an Action Wobble so she really dances...so cute!
The scalloped circle behind her is Stitched Mini-Scallop Circle STAX from MFT. I wanted a green edge so I die cut one in purple and one in green and then trimmed along the stitch line of the green one and glued it on! I really like how this looks! I also tried some really simple no-line coloring on this card. I used it to make the flowery background. It looks like patterned paper, doesn't it? The last layer was stamped with Versamark and the Simply Circles background stamp. Here's a close-up...
Glitter is so difficult to photograph, but I got lucky with this shot. Ohhh, ahhh...look at that glitz!!
I always color two of an image when I'm making a card. That way, if I mess up on the first one, I can correct my mistakes on the second one and still end up with something that I can use. This time I was lucky and they both were usable! SO...here is the 2nd card. I used MFT's new Blueprints 29 for this one...love it...a lot!
I used a piece of MFT's Sweet Sunshine 6x6 Paper Pack as a background. It coordinated perfectly with my color scheme! I wasn't sure about the curly-cues on the top of her head. On the first card I colored them like flower vines but on this one, I colored them like curls of her hair...I like them both! Here's the close-up view...
While trying to come up with a way to show how sparkly the glitter looks, I took this photo. It didn't really catch the glitter like I wanted it to, but I liked it so much that I needed to include it.
I know time is short, but I hope my cards made you think about going to MFT's summer camp! They've come up with some fun ideas...and the videos are great! Thanks for stopping by. Have a good weekend :)
