Three Chickens

I was going through some cards in my stamping room and found this one that I made a while ago.  I really like the punch art chickens on this card so I thought I'd share it.  I don't have the particulars on the stamps that I used but I can tell you how to make the chickens.  They are so cute and would be a good embellishment on a scrapbook page too!

All of the punches I used were from Stampin' Up, the body of the chicken is made from the large oval punch, the wings and orange at the top of the head is cut from one of the flowers in the Boho Blossoms punch.  Both of these are still available from Stampin' Up.  The beak and wattle were made using the 3 - Heart punch.  This one is retired but any little heart punch would work. you punch a yellow heart and an orange heart and cut them both in half.  The bottom of the yellow heart makes the beak and the top of the orange heart makes the wattle!  The nesting box is just a rectangle I cut with my Fiskars cutter and I used orange and yellow tissue paper to make the nesting material.

Pink and Lacy

I had some friends over to make cards today.  I did three projects.  Here is the first one.  I used a cute retired set from Stampin' Up called Sweet Summer.  I think pink and white lace are perfect together so decided to use both on my card.  I didn't have any designer paper that I liked with the flower stamp I used so I made my own using a scroll background stamp from Hero Arts.  It needed some pink to make it match the flowers so I added dots with a single dot stamp from Printworks.  I can't believe how often I use that little stamp but I seem to be grabbing in all the time!

Here's a close up of the flowers.  I used Copics to color them.  I didn't use traditional blending groups, but the colors blended very well and made coloring easy.   I used Spellbinders dies to make the pink frame around the flowers. 

I kept the pink and lace theme going to the inside of the card.

Making Soup

I had to come up with a card for a project day with friends and since I've been wanting to try making a recessed window card I decided to do that.  I found a tutorial on Splitcoaststampers  and played around with it until I made it work and felt confident enough to teach it to a group. Thank goodness for the video that Splitcoast provided, it made figuring the card out so much easier!  You can view the tutorial here.  Because of the construction, I think this card would have to be hand cancelled so it will take a little extra postage to mail, but it's so cute it's worth it.  Even though the recessed window is only a quarter inch deep, I found it to have a lot of space for layering.  It has potential for all different types of scenes.  I'll be making more of these :)  I kept this one on the simple side because of limited time for my project.  I made 2 different cards to give my friends a couple of options.  

Because of the construction, you have to decorate the left inside of the card…

Here are some close ups.   Can you see how much space there is for layering?  I used two pieces of foam tape behind the chef and one more to pop the pot out.  That means there could be at least 3 layers within the window!  I added a MFT banner made out of Graphics 45 paper to add a little embellishment to the frame.

Here's the other card.  The chef stamps are from Inky Antics.  They are still available for purchase but I couldn't get a direct link from the website.  If you do a search for "clear stamps" then go to page 22 you should see the set.  Here is the number and name…10983LC, Stovetop Cooking Chefs Clear Set.  I also used an MFT border die to embellish this window

I used Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol mineral spirits to color all of the images and used Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Scattered Straw) to edge around all the white pieces.  Hoping this inspires you to do some stamping!

Groovy

I cased this card made by Taylor VanBruggen of Taylored Expressions.  I just loved the paper and the bright colors!  My husband had a VW bug when we were dating so they have a special place in my heart!  I usually make 4-6 of the same card when I get busy stamping.   I only have one of these cards left and I'm sending it tomorrow, so I figured I better take a pic and post it before putting it in the mail.  Kind of takes you back in time…doesn't it?

Last Christmas Post this year

I do not know what happened this year!  It's only 6 PM on Christmas Eve and everything is done.  This is not me.  My Christmas Eve's are usually spent in a panic finishing things up and wrapping for tomorrow but I'm sitting here with nothing to do.  It is just weird!!   So I decided to post the last minute things that I finished up on Friday.  I always leave those final gift card holders, tags and candy treats till the end!!  I made Snowflake Mix and thanks to my friend Judy had two different ways of packaging it.   

The first is in a cellophane bag with a topper...

The second way is in clear, sturdy quart sized plastic containers.  The little owl is from a Whippersnapper set by Anna Wight.  I used paper piecing to give him a Christmas striped scarf!  

I always need one more gift so I have some gift card/ check holders ready.  This year I made some Z shaped cards.  I like this design because there is room for a sentiment and a little pocket that holds the gift card or check securely.  For this one I used a sentiment stamp and surrounded it with the holly and berries from the Stampin' Up set Watercolor Winter.  The snowflakes were made with a die from Impression Obsession.  It's my favorite, the snowflakes are beautiful and intricate but small enough to fit perfectly on a card!

This is what the card looks like opened.  I put a ribbon and bow on the pocket to make it look like a little gift package!

For the second card I used a funny stamp from Eat Cake Graphics.  I just love the look on the little boy's face! It makes me laugh every time I look at it!

Engagement Card

I needed an engagement card for a very special couple.  I know this little sprig is a Christmas stamp from Stampin' Up, but I didn't ink up the "Merry Christmas" part and it worked perfectly!  Isn't it adorable with the sparkly rhinestones?  No where near as sparkly as the gorgeous engagement ring but kind of romantic...right??!!
