This is a card that I made recently for friends who were celebrating their 50th anniversary. Kathy and I were talking about another anniversary card that I was working on and she said, "You should make it so the prince and princess move towards each other." I decided then and there what to make for her anniversary card! The prince and princess come from an MFT stamp set called Magical Dragons and I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. It was a little tricky because they are both facing the same way and I needed them to face each other. I stamped the prince onto waxed paper and then pressed the waxed paper onto white card stock and got a pretty clear reversed image. I colored him with Copics and then used a fine black permanent marker to make the outline more solid. I stamped his sword onto mirror card stock and glued it on to give him a little shine. Next I colored the princess. I added some shine to her dress with a glimmer pen and added a jewel to her crown. The castle is from a retired Stampin' Up Set called Dreams and Dragons. It is my favorite castle!! I checked and it's available on EBay!
The fun thing about this card is that the prince and princess can move closer and closer together until they are standing side by side! I have to give my friend credit for the idea, but I adore it! I started by stamping and coloring the castle, grass, rocks and little flowers. Next I cut a slot using a ruler and Exacto knife. MFT has some dies that would make this step a lot easier. I didn't have them then, but I have them now! They are called Surf & Turf Die-namics. They also have little Slider Elements to use on the back of shapes that allow them to move easily on the card. I did have these and I used them!
Once the slot was finished, I placed the prince where I wanted him, flipped the card over and glued a slider element onto him within the slot opening. I did the same for the princess. Then I put a lot of foam tape around the outer edges and along the slot of the piece and stuck it onto the base card. Last of all I glued the piece that I'd removed for the slot back into place to make the castle look whole.
It is really fun to play with this card and to move the prince and princess toward and away from each other! I finished the card off with some clouds from MFT and the greeting which comes from a set of stamps and dies from Papertrey Ink called Swoosh Stamp Set.
I will definitely be making more interactive slider cards! They are really easy and fun!!

Yikes, it's been a long time since I've posted a card. I've been stamping, but usually had to keep the card secret because I didn't want the recipient to see it before they got it! I have quite a few cards that I can now post...hooray!!
I made this card to send to my son and daughter-in-law for their first anniversary! It's hard to believe that a year has already passed. We are so proud of them both and all they've accomplished in just one year!!
On this card I used the adorable Magical Dragons stamp set from My Favorite Things. The little prince and princess make the perfect couple! The colorful backdrop was made with dye inks and Clarity stencil brushes. Oh my goodness, I love these brushes!! They give better blends than anything I've ever used in all my years of stamping! The "congratulations" was made using a Papertrey Ink stamp and die set called Swooshes. It was a little tricky to position the stamped word onto the die cut word, but using the Misti it wasn't bad at all. Here is a picture of the front of the card...
I used black Staz-On ink to stamp the sword and crown onto mirror card stock and cut and pasted them on to add a little shine. The crown needed a jewel, too! The tiny hearts floating above the prince and princess were made with MFT Blueprints Tag Builder 5. I also added some sequins here and there.
Inside the card, I used my computer for the sentiment. The castle is from a retired Stampin' Up set called Dreams and Dragons. I checked and the set or the castle as a single item are available on ebay in case you need it! I colored the castle with Copics and added glitter to make it magical!

Here's another MFT die called Bring on the Cake! This die set has lots of options for the kinds of cake you can make with it from very formal to very casual. I decided to make a pretty 3 layer cake for my friend for her birthday! I used mirror card stock to make the cake plate and Pan Pastels with a stencil to put dots on the cake and I was really happy with both!
The bling is from Sparkle N Sprinkle. They have it in lots of colors. This was my favorite color but I liked the others, too. The button is from Papertrey Ink. They have two sets that you can mix and match to make vintage looking paper buttons...so cute! I used MFT Pierced Circle Die-namics to make the Kraft circle behind the cake and added yellow Stickles to make the flames on the candles glow!
I've seen a lot of cards made with Papertrey Ink Autumn Hills and thought they were so pretty that I had to buy the set! I moved to Florida from Massachusetts and I get a little nostalgic in the fall because I miss seeing the leaves changing colors and the smell of the air. Coloring the image on this stamp made me happy and made me remember all the things I like best about Autumn in New England!
I really enjoy doing paper mosaics and used a bunch of leaf stamps to make the one I put on this card. Here's a close-up of the mosaic before I cut it into strips to put on the card. You can't tell from the photo, but the cut pieces are very shiny and really do look like pieces of broken china! If you are interested in the steps for making this let me know in a comment and I'll do a tutorial.
This is a picture of the stamped and embossed piece that I cut up to make it. The leaf stamps are from a set by Impression Obsession called Wreaths and Garlands and the swirl is from a Hero Arts set called Fancy Scrolls. I couldn't find a source for purchasing it on-line so it may be retired, but a different scroll stamp would work, especially since you cut it all up into pieces.
I used a tool that I made myself to add some texture to the background and then spritzed a little Melted Chocolate Dylusions spray and Tattered Angels spray to add some more interest and a little bit of sparkle. Here's my tool!!
I use it like a stipple brush...pounce the ends into ink and then onto the card stock. It gives a flecked look to your piece. It's easy to clean, too!
