Up, Up and Away

A different version of a shadow box card.  This one is fun because it has moving parts!  I used Aim for the Clouds from There She Goes Rubber Stamps.  It's great because it can be used for masculine cards.  I've found that guys really like cards that have paper engineering or movement in them!!

I've never done a video before, but I wanted you to see how this card moves.  Seeing is so much better than reading about it so I gave it a try.  

Pretty cute, isn't it?  There's a little pocket on the back to put a gift card and a note to the Birthday Boy!

By the Lake

Art Impressions watercolor stamps are amazing.  You don't have to be a watercolor artist to get wonderful results.  It takes a little practice with masking and a stamp positioner, but the end product is fabulous and well worth the effort!  I found some excellent video tutorials on YouTube that inspired me.  Art Impressions also has a Pinterest board for their watercolor stamps.  Here's a card that I made...

Penny Black Hedgehogs

I tried my hand at a card sketch this week.  I used one of the adorable hedgehog stamps from Penny Black.  It's called "Ladybug Love".  I really like using Penny Black's animal scenes to make inches.  I've tried quite a few and they make cute humorous cards.  I thought I would do that with this stamp, but when I went to cut the one inch squares, I either cut off a head or cut out the lady bugs so it didn't work this time.  I decided to make them inch-tangular instead.  They are 1 inch at the top but rectangular in shape, which better suited the card sketch I was using!!

Interesting Fold

I really like interesting folds for cards and I'm always on the hunt for new ones.  I found this one on a YouTube video by Kristina Werner.  It's part of her Friday Focus series on folds.  I really like all the flaps and places to decorate on this card.  It's that color addiction thing that I have!!

Here is a close up picture of the inside.  I didn't have a sentiment stamp that would work for this card so I typed one up on the computer, printed it and cut it to size.

SU The Open Sea

It's KCUK Challenge time again!  This month the challenge is to use UTEE.  I have some in my stash but I'm not very experienced with it so the only thing I could come up with was the cracked glass technique.  The first one I made really shattered...so much so that the UTEE cracked right off of the image!  I'm not sure why that happened, I'm thinking that I might have been a bit too aggressive with my cracking!  I was more careful the second time and this is how it came out...

Diamond Origami Fold Card

Today I tried the Diamond Origami Fold Card featured recently as a tutorial on Splitcoaststampers website (there is a mistake in the directions but the correct measurements are given down in the comment section).  I wasn't 100% in love with the fold but since I'm looking for some new ideas, I tried it.  I used an old Stampin' Up set called You Are My Sunshine because I thought the images would fit nicely in the spaces I had to work with.  The little girl and the sun in this set make me happy and the sentiment is really nice, too!   The fold is very simple to do.  I used Peerless Watercolors as a coloring medium this time. I'm really happy with how the card turned out so now this is my new favorite fold!  I'm fickle...I know it...but I can't help myself!  I love anything and everything to do with stamping!

Houses and Love

I needed a bridal shower card for a special girl and didn't know what to do until I saw Wanda Guess' recent post.   I think it was the sentiment that got me.  I loved it and it was perfect for my friend because she has such a kind and loving spirit!  

I got out my scrap box for this one and focused on the colors green and blue.  It was fun to mix and match until I got the colors just how I wanted them.  But I was pleased with the results...and my friend gave me a big smile when she opened it so I know she liked it!  I had to use what I had on hand because time was short but I will be ordering from Taylored Expressions in the near future.  The MFT fence die that I used worked ok, but I NEED the TE one because it is smaller.  Oh boy...I'm in trouble again!  Seriously, there is no way I'm going to place an order and only order one thing!
